The procurement contract of MareNostrum 5, a new EuroHPC pre-exascale supercomputer, has been signed. The consortium made of three EuroHPC participating countries: Spain, Portugal, and Turkey.
This supercomputer will be specifically tailored to strengthen European medical research through drug research, the development of vaccines, the virus spread simulations as well as artificial intelligence and big data processing applications. The machine will also support traditional HPC applications, such as climate research, engineering, material science, and earth sciences.
In this meeting, information about MareNostrum 5 resources, architecture, and user support will be provided. Researchers from academia and research institutes have been invited in order to prepare MareNostrum 5's potential future users for the new pre-exascale supercomputer.
