It focuses on developing numerical models to understand how polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAHs) evolve into these materials. The research aims to identify the conditions that lead to the formation of either harmful soot or valuable materials like carbon black and graphene, ultimately improving the ability to predict and control their production.

Speaker: Dr. Nick Eaves, an Associate Professor at the University of Windsor
He specializes in the formation of carbon-based nanomaterials in high-temperature reacting flows. He co-developed solvers, which are widely used for modeling carbon black formation. His work focuses on particle inception, fluid dynamics, and chemical kinetics, advancing predictive models for carbon black. Recently, his research has shifted toward high-value materials like graphene and the co-generation of hydrogen and nanomaterials from fossil fuels for a net-zero CO2 economy.
